I want to show you the underground, chilled and alternative Athens experience and show you why it’s one of the most interesting and exciting cities in the world right now.
I’ll introduce you to the lesser-known neighbourhoods where the most exciting contemporary culture is to be found, blending modern history lesson (the economic and refugee crises, popular resistance and anti-capitalist projects) take you for some amazing food and drink and finish with a wander through Athens’ vibrant nightlife.
A hidden restaurant down a trap door, a cooperative cultural centre in a derelict stately home, the only spot to listen to world class techno (if you arrive after 3am…), guerrilla parties, skater hangouts, temporary art spaces, lesser-known museums and hidden artsy gems.
Everyone’s probably told you about Psyrri, Exarchia and Gazi. But the new cultural frontiers are to be found in Kerameikos and Kipseli, where collapsing colonial buildings and empty lots have been turned into new arts spaces and places to get drunk with some very beautiful people.
Once the sun starts going down, we can go to our favourite spot to drink a beer and watch over the city, before heading for refreshing Campari Spritz and selected greek cheeses/hams at a beautiful and buzzing corner bar, and then head to our favourite Skate/bar venue where artists and creatives alike get together and enjoy the last warm days of the summer.
Please book Fridays or Saturdays at 11am as a half day, or full day (optional).
